Setting up my March Angie Way

Hey bookworms! You might be asking what is the Angie way? It’s a reading plan system I developed about a year and a half ago to help me get through my TBR each month. I use it to schedule reading for ARC’s (Advanced Reading Copies) and buddy reads! I also plan other books sometimes that I just really want to get through, usually nonfiction books.

I set up my TBR 1-2 weeks before the month starts by choosing my TBR. Usually I have all the Arc’s and buddy reads planned by then, but if I receive a new one after I’ve already made the plan it goes into the Extras section. My reading tracker bujo has 4 pages. Page 1 (see below) has my day by day break down for how many pages to read each day. I write the day of the week MTWTFSS plus the date 1234 etc. Then beside that a two digit code for the book and the page I need to get to that day. There’s a legend on the right of the page to show the codes for each book. Then below that is the list of Extra books. The Extra list changes throughout the month usually.

Page 2 and 3 are the daily page tracking pages. I’ve been doing this since December. I write the book I’m reading and then what page I start with that day, what page I finish on and the total number of pages. Sometimes I’m reading more than 1 book at a time, so I add the total pages from each book to the get the daily total in the last column. It’s fun to look back and see the daily page numbers, it can be anywhere from 10 – 400 pages. I’m all over the map most days. Page 4 is where I track every book I’ve finished for the month and what genre it was. And at the end of the month I tally up my total pages. Next week I’ll show the finished February schedule so you can see what it looks like completed.

If you’re wondering how I choose which books to schedule I’ll break it down:

  1. Sixth Extinction – buddy read
  2. Song of Wraiths & Ruin – buddy read
  3. Firekeeper’s Daughter – anticipated preorder (March 2)
  4. Bookmarked For Death – readathon book
  5. The Gilded Ones – buddy read
  6. Miss Benson’s Beetle – IRL book club pick
  7. Red Island House – ARC releases March 23
  8. Act your Age, Eve Brown – anticipated preorder (March 9)

I also have a full highlight on my Instagram that you can see updates through the months. There are many ways you can adapt it to fit your style.
